"We will certainly recommend our friends to visit, it brought back memories..." more
Kokeshi Dolls were originally hand carved by farmers in northern Japan from Cherry, Dogwood or Mizuki trees, as tokens of love and friendship
for their family and friends. Kokeshi have developed from a simple toy into a modern craft and are now recognised as one of the traditional folk arts in Japan. These beautiful, brightly coloured wooden dolls are irresistibly cute and combine a typically simple yet stylish Japanese design with a distinctive, contemporary feel. Every doll is given its own name by the craftsman who lovingly created it ensuring that every Kokeshi Doll radiates its own individual spirit.
The video shows how traditional Kokeshi are made.
