Kiyoshi Saito Box 20 Japanese Notecards

CODE: 0539

The Kiyoshi Saito Box 20 Japanese Notecards contains 20 (5 each of 4 designs) Japanese greetings cards by Kiyoshi Saito with white envelopes in a very smart decorative box. A self-taught artist, Kiyoshi Saito moved early from oil painting to woodblock printing, applying unorthodox tools and devising novel methods. By simplifying the forms he depicted, Saito seized their essence. His landscapes often juxtapose the regular geometry of traditional Japanese architecture with the theme and variations of plant growth. Such compositions found favour among American visitors to postwar Japan. The Kiyoshi Saito Box 20 Japanese Notecards have been left blank and contain five each of the following notecards;

  • Garden Autumn, Aizu, 1972
  • May in Aizu, 1988
  • Katsura Kyoto, 1970
  • Snow and Sunset, 1975

Card size: 17cm x 12cm / 6.75 x 4.75 inches
