"We will certainly recommend our friends to visit, it brought back memories..." more
In true Japanese style we offer an optional FREE gift wrapping service on all orders. We wrap your gifts using a special Japanese textured paper to which we then affix either a small origami crane bird (which represent love and peace) or a mizuhiki (coloured wire) motif.
Please remember to select Add Gift Wrapping at the checkout (Shopping Cart) stage, when placing your order. If you do not select this option we will assume that you do not require gift wrapping.
We also now offer a new eco-friendly gift wrapping service using our beautiful new 'furoshiki'! Japanese Furoshiki are a type of traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that were frequently used to transport clothes, gifts, or other goods. The name, meaning 'bath spread', derives from the Edo period practice of using them to bundle clothes while at the public baths. Eventually, the furoshiki's usage extended to serve as a means for merchants to transport their wares or to protect and decorate a gift. Although there are still furoshiki users in Japan, their numbers declined in the post-war period, in large part due to the proliferation of the plastic shopping bag.
In recent years, it has seen a renewed interest as environmental protection became a concern. In Japan, furoshiki are commonly used to wrap and transport lunch boxes but can also be used as a table cloth, a scarf as well as a stunning style of gift-wrapping! All our furoshiki are made in Japan from high grade cotton and are either 98 x 98, 90 x 90 or 50 x 50cm and priced at £13.00, £18.00 and £6.00 respectively. To select this option, please call us on 01423 876320.
We also have an excellent selection of authentic Japanese cards and tags from only £3.00 and £1.00 to really add the authentic finishing touches to your present! If you would prefer us to deliver your gift direct to the recipient simply complete their address details on the checkout order form and we send your order to them and the receipt to you.
