Kimono Styles, Sizes and Washing Guidelines

Our Japanese Kimono, also known as ‘Yukata', are authentic Japanese Kimono and are ideal house robes for use in the home or on holiday for both women and men. We offer 3 different sizes of Kimono, a ¾ length (107cm), full-length (140cm) and an extra large size (various lengths), all come with a matching belt. Please note that not all designs are colours are available in all sizes. For information, in Japan you would wear your Kimono left over right!

Ladies Kimono

¾ length (107cm / 42 inches long from the neck to the hem)

• Suitable for ladies of any height.
• Suitable for ladies dress size 8 to 14.
• Square cut sleeves with a small pocket on the front.
• Designed to fall between the knee and the calf, but can be shortened if required.

Full-Length (140cm / 55 inches long from the neck to the hem)

• Suitable for ladies size 12 to 18 ideally over 5'4" (163cm) in height.
• Suitable for ladies dress size 12 to 18.
• Traditional Kimono style open cut sleeves, which were traditionally used as pockets.
• Designed to fall on or above the ankle, but can be shortened if required.

Extra Large (145cm / 57 inches long from the neck to the hem)

• Suitable for ladies size 16 to 22 ideally over 5'4" (163cm) in height.
• Suitable for ladies dress size 16 to 22.
• Kimono style open cut sleeves, which were traditionally used as pockets.
• Designed to fall on or above the ankle, but can be shortened if required.

The ladies Extra Large Kimono measures 48.5cm (19 inches) across the front left and right fabric panels and 74cm (29 inches) across the back panel giving a total of 170cm (67 inches) in total circumference around the bottom of the garment.

Mens Kimono

¾ length (115cm / 45 inches  long from the neck to the hem)

• Suitable for men of any height.
• Suitable for men with a 40" (102cm) - 46" (102cm) chest size.
• Square cut sleeves with a small pocket on the front.
• Designed to fall between the knee and the calf, but can be shortened if required.

Full-Length (150cm / 59 inches long from the neck to the hem)

• Suitable for men who are 5' 8" (173cm) or taller.
• Suitable for men with a 40" (100cm) - 46" (117cm) chest size.
• Square cut sleeves with a small pocket on the front.
• Designed to fall between the knee and the calf, but can be shortened if required.

Washing Instructions

Cotton and polyester versions are machine washable on a cold cycle.

It is recommended that silk Kimono are dry-cleaned.
