Japanese mizuhiki are chords created from rice paper that is very tightly wound, starched to give it stiffness and then coloured using mylar, which is a very thin plastic. Traditional Japanese mizuhiki are ideal for creating beautiful colourful decorations for greetings cards and invitations. In addition to butterflies, knots, boats and animals such as cranes, frogs, fish, dragons and turtles are also very popular!
